Hi There
I read the thread about Russell Botha's enginuity. For years the brakes on my 1995 RR have always been very ordinary even though I have been to numerous brake mecahnics and Rover dealers only to be told this is as good they get- well not true.
After thinking about it and looking at the plastic parts in the Wabco unit I decided to install the stainless steel parts Russell has engineered. My major concern was my inability to carry out the work without braking something else, and particularly not to compromise the safety of the braking sysyem.
I have always been very, very reluctant to do work on the brakes because it seemed a no go zone for a weekend worrier-but the brakes were slowing getting worse and I could not get any sense anywhere.
Well the GOOD news, I got the kit and CD from Russell and installed it successfully. I cannot say enough how much it improved my brakes - I now can feel the car stop rather than having brakes akin to that feeling of using thongs on my first billy cart as brakes - the pedal feels totally different in the right way and there is definitely less need to apply pressure to the pedal and a far greater return on brakling. I would say its a must do, whether you do it yourslf or get someone to do it. I think I am average in the mechanical skills (but I am anal at making sure all parts a clean and no dirt or mess goes near my beloved RR and I like seeing things done properly) hoewever with Russell's CD that comes with the kit and his fantastic help I did it... My tip is take your time and dont force anything.
Thanks Russell for help and A Very Big congrats to Russell well done - I recomend it to all passionate RR lovers.
Regards Bruce
