    P38 EAS settings

Anyone know the Factory settings for the EAS on a 96 P38 please?

There are four sets of numbers usually around 230 something for highest setting etc.

    Cheers
    Jeff

Jeff, the numbers can vary hugely from vehicle to vehicle.
As I understand it, you are after factory default settings?
Try this. (Obviously you have access to rovacom, testbook or similar?)
    Either press 'restore to factory default' setting, or perform the following;

set the vehicle to 'standard height', (470mm from middle of guard lip to centre cap of wheel) using jacks front and rear. press the 'read current height' function and it will do just that. Then store the height settings in the ''standard section and lower the vehicle back down.
switch engine off and restart, vehicle should rise to where you set it. then the low, access and high settings need to be entered after you recheck the standard height for accuracy, adjust slightly accordingly. I can't remember the setting variations for access, low and high, I can look them up for you tomorrow if you need them?

    Thanks Justin,

I am using the EAS cable from Rover Rennovations and the EAS unlock/calibrate tools via my Laptop.

I've done all the seals in the valve area and new compressor piston, New air bags and 'O' rings seals

Now trying to get the settings back to standard.

Thing (I call it that when it gives me the ****'s) has started flattening the battery again over a day or so.

Thankfully I have a "Battery Angel" which just means lift the bonnet and reset the switch, then reset all the windows etc.

I thought if I set the access figure too low it might chase that setting all night in trying to lower itself and chew up battery power?

Thanks in advance for any help
    Jeff

Hi Jeff -think I've got the same cable and software tools. Attached is a screen cap of the last time I ran it for your info.

What is this battery angel of which you speak? <spoken with a Captain Picard accent>. I've got to do a reboot of my P38A's computers every few months and this sounds like a useful device to save windows/ mirror/ sunroof/ radio settings.

    cheers
    Paul.

I have copied the dimensions of my EAS calibration blocks and placed a drawing here: http://p38arover.com/rover/p38a/pix/LRT_60-003.pdf

    Thanks heaps Paul.

The battery angel does not preserve the settings, but DOES stop the battery being drained. Lift the bonnet, press the reset button, and theres plenty left in the battery to start the car.

    FAQ

Unit was about $80 on E-Bay and is brilliant.

The number of times I have went to get in the car and find no interior lights etc, and been able to not need a jump start.....................

Thanks for the drawing. I had seen them probably on the rover.net site, but until now been too busy with other issues.

    Cheers

    Paul,
    Same program as you.

I can read the data using the get buttons or read all.

When I go into the write sections and key in new figures then press wth write (red) button for each line they don't seem the get sent to the EAS.

What is the sequence you use please?

    ie Initialise then unlock

or use the unlock button then initialise?

must be only a minor sequence that I am doing wrong?

    Many Thanks
    Jeff

Hmm, sorry Jeff don't know what the correct sequence is. I've never tried to set them as they seemed ok. However, now that my Rangie is stuffed and I'll probably have to replace the ECU's at floor level I may have to give it a go.
If I do, I'll let you know what works.

Putting my IT consultant hat on for a moment, it seem that the logical progression would be to initialise the system to establish known values and then to enable write mode (unlock) to set new values. Perhaps the trick is in convincing the system to save the new values? I'll check it out as soon as I have a working Rangie again.

    Cheers, Paul.

    Paul,
In going back and checking my cable, I found it came from another mob with the OBDII software, so pins for OBDII are different which, most embarrassingly , is why it does not work.

PROPER cable is now on it's way from Range Rover Rennovations, so when it arrives all things should be sweet

    Thanks

    Jeff

The cable is pretty easy to make too, I bought the connector from Jaycar and just soldered it together according to the diagram that exists in the application itself.
