Where is the auto trans dipstick on a 99 P38a?

    G'day guys,

I'm not sure if I've just got a blind spot, but I cannot find the auto trans dipstick on my 99 P38. I have searched assiduously, including crawling under the car and trying to find where it fits into the gearbox and following it back. I have a service manual for a 95 P38 and it has a vague drawing showing one, but it isn't where it should be or where I think it should be.

Am I just missing something, or has LR changed something I don't know about?

    Thanks

    Willem

If it's not on the drivers side at the rear of the engine then I'd be betting it's the same as the D2 & just has a level plug on the auto itself.

    Thanks, Scott,

It is definitely not anywhere in the engine bay. If it is a level plug on the side of the gearbox, how often does it need checking? Obviously it would not be a frequent check item at all. Do you just take out the plug and fill it till it overflows, just like a diff? What do you do on a D2?

    nothing unless its leaking,,,

get it serviced(kits are cheap and sometimes not necessary)
there is nothing to adjust ,, its just a fluid change.

changed mine to synthetic and it made for smoother changes,,
    also handles heat better,,

    The '99 model doesn't have a dipstick.

There is a level plug on the oil pan
