Another great morning riding single track

Another early start for me @ Mt Joyce....lots of muddy bits from the rain and the churn up from last week's race event held there....I rode Bovine Groove for the first time today - which was great, and I'm getting better at this...getting smoother and faster, and loving it more than ever!

The top of the Mountain - all the trails marked out...

    The start of Bovine Groove...

Fair bit of mud and water in spots, so Foxy is looking authentic now!

At the Mountain base about to ride "Pork Chop" before heading back home....

Love getting out here on my hard tail...

Twas another great morning....don't think I could ride this in thongs though....

I'm jealous, I had the riot act read to me last night when I announced I was going for a ride this morning

(not that a total lack of strength in my right arm would have let me do it anyway, it's still no where near right after last Sundays little adventure )

I'm just about to throw my sisters Big W special up on the stand to change tubes and give it a service.
I doubled its value last week by installing a NOS Shimano 7 speed uni-glide chain I had

I've heard that speech myself, Rick! My leave pass was somewhat conditional, but it was worth it.

She is very, very good and allows me a pretty free rein but has had to put up with my moaning, groaning and whingeing all week and was scared I'd really do myself in and have to put up with the aftermath

Looks like an orsum place to XC Dan!

Let me know when your next heading out that way, If I am available, I am keen to tag along. Just not sure how I will go on the fitness side of things.
What sort of distance are you covering on these morning rides?

That would be great Grim! I go most Sunday mornings....Not really sure of distance covered 'cos I just ride - but it's 2 hours all up, and the first bit, riding to the top of the Mountain, is the hardest physically, so you do get a pretty full on workout. Once up top it's all good fun from there though - some climbing to get back out and back to the carpark though.

I'm finding it's easier already - so it's really just a case of getting out there and into it - the fitness comes by doing it!

how are you getting to the top, fire trail or the green/easy single track???

we were going to try the easy two way single track next time as that fire trail is a killer

I've done it both ways and yes, taking tunnel vision, worm juice and the last bit of the blue trail to the top is easier but longer in time.

I tend to ride straight up the fire trail as it's all part of my regime to get super fit again. Seems to be working, I'm 8kg down on my weight since returning from Nova Scotia or rather since I dragged my fat arse back onto a saddle as a daily routine.

    2 HOURS ! ! !
Assuming I can make it this Sunday, how much water should I have on board?
I don't tend to drink a lot while riding so a single bottle should be sufficient, with a second bottle back at base for when we return?
I don't have tubes or tools yet either... But keen as to test myself out.
Just scared that i will be too slow and useless, LOL

Beer Grimace; beer. You need to replace those carbs.
