Scott it takes your keen eye to pick that one, it has bugged me all week but have been too busy, I will fix it tomorrow as not to denigrate the product - just a 2mm - 3mm spacer between the inner guard and the chassis in the meccano set will fix it,

It is however probably still within Land Rover panel alignment specs for the Defender, which I think are gauged in inches, not thou's

Next - not allowed to do any more salvage rebuilds in NSW with the legislation introduced on the 1st Feb. I might get to one of the 20 other projects on the back burner. The HK Monaro might even come back out of the container this year.

Awesome job Erich (and Sheila too I am sure). I look forward to seeing it next time I come up to do some bits on my P38 out in yard... hoping that some Bundalene-ness rubs off on my project

    Cheers, Paul.

The FAQ link below probably answers this. The legislation at this stage only applies to NSW, however, you cannot buy a repairable write-off interstate, repair it here and get it registered.

The FAQ you put as a link does say applications to repair will be considered on a case-by-case basis Erich.

Its just a matter of whether you want the hassle of asking in the first place.

We went fir a 450km round trip yesterday and are very impressed with with performance and features.

The car is definitely quiet. We will have to complete the sound proofing through the rear of the vehicle as well

The heat insullation definitely works, no heat at all around the hand brake area, the floor or under the cubby.

Leg room especially for the passenger, with the integrated air conditioning is excellent. The air conditioning works extremely well, although I have a problem with the center vent giving me a chill on the elbow.

The 6 speed gearbox works well, although 1st is very low. 6th isn't too tall for the available power.

Heaps of power and good torque, especially low down

Love the mirrors, way less of a blind spot, although I will have to do something about the drivers mirror hitting the snorkel when opening the door fully.

The long range fuel tank seems to be a bonus. The gauge isn't linear but goes to a maximum position. We drove over 400kms until the gauge came back to the full position.

On a down side - I am unsure whether there is a dual mass flywheel between the engine and gearbox but I am noticing one has to take far more care with gear changes to get the a smooth shift, just takes a bit of getting use to.

    Other opinions are welcome.

    Well done.

On my TD5 the mirror and the snorkel used to drive me crazy so I opted for a Mantec snorkel on the Puma. Problem solved.
