TJM D2a bullbar on D2 99 Mod
Ok First addition to the D2 start with the basics BULLBAR,
But been a 10 year old car options are limited ARB or ECB No Ironman but what if you don’t like what you can lony get for the D2 but like the upgrade options better.

Well everything is the same but the grill, so lets modify it and fit what you want.
started with the removal of the factory bumper and clean up all the chassis .

Test fit of the chassis cradle that came with the bulbar and hole needed for the rear mount.

This is the Winch I put in is only a cheap’o but will be rebuilding the grease when it all comes off again next month (only a loaner for trip)

These will have to be made if you want them TJM will not make to order

Removal of water bottle was needed to get the longer bolts in, Fit the new crash cans and recovery hooks with cradle and level up
Time to pull out the lights and trims fit bar on and level up to where I want it. I used the stands to help hold when doing small adjustments
She looks pretty good now

I left a 4mm gap on the sides of the bar and panels to allow water to flow over the bar and away. (sorry I took this late at night so it’s a bit dark)

Now that that’s on tight and level to where I want it, time for the grill to be trimmed, I measured up the space from the bulbar to the top mount approx 270mm, and the space from bottom screw to top of bulbar was 40mm so grill can not be any longer then this.

So mark up the grill for cutting and relook at measurements. To get a straight line I used a set square and set it on 5mm and ran it along the bottom of the face giving me a line to cut on, sorry did not get a photo of this. This was not enough so did an extra 6mm on top of that. So 11mm was cut from the face, off my head 40mm was cut in total off the grill, and yes the two holding pins where cut off, with the two side screws they are not needed.

To cut the grill I used a 3mm cutting 4” angle grinder which went though very easily and did not burn the plastic and left a nice clean cut just a run over with a file, which I also used to take out any waves in the cut.
Fit it all in and that’s it, did not need to trim the side trims under the lights, plug all the lights back in give it a wipe down, need a few clamps for the water hose and connecters for the lights but that’s tomorrow nights job.
