army didnt do this mod--I did after the vehicle was built in rectification as it was a shortage.

the tube was similar to--modified cab chasis tube only the tail is straight.

the breather tube was yellow zinc when i saw it.and getting the hose through the gromet without kinking was difficult.

I thought the front chasis riser was modified to get the hose through--it must of been with the left hand tanks.

That works perfectly. My tank just needs a little modifying and presto, I'll be done. I can't wait to get home now and get stuck in. I will have to post photo's.

Cheers for all your help guys.

The tank got a 3cm cut tonight with the mighty 4" grinder. I will weld the breather to the top of the piece I cut off and will try and figure out how to masage a 2" ippe to fit between the floor and the outrigger.

That looks about right, you know if this was commercialised it would make a cheap second fuel tank for a regular 110.

Looks good Brian. Apart from the fuel tank did you have any other problems fitting it all.

    Brian,
Apart from the fuel tank issue, the only other was the changing of the mounts in the middle under the floor of the rear passenger foot well. The mounts on the 2 door FFR are different to the county body mounts. It was simply a case of unbolt one type and fit the latter type. I had a few little things that didn't line up as in the windscreen to the roof needed a little adjusting and where the sill panels bolted up to the firewall. It was as if the new body was about 3mm too short . It took a bit of messing around to make it fit right but in the end it was a great result. I am still in the process of having the rear seats approved and putting in a child restraint.

The girls aren't a big fan of the loud dusty hot "daddy's car". I'm afraid the options are sell it or make it more 'comfortable'. It's not a Range Rover what do they expect? I love the thing to death but the camping trips are a bit lonely by yourself!

Sorry for the very late reply.

    Brian.

When I did my FFR to wagon conversion I had trouble with body alignment. One side was shorter than the other. I used a string line to line the body up which resulted in huge door gaps on one side.

Yep family finds my car is hot & noisy, and kids are now baulking at a trip which is longer than 2 hrs.
