    thanks for the info brett!

Did you just use black killrust paint or something special? With regard to the insulation question above my plan is to combine the insulation to the matting, not the metal, whereupon I can just drag it all out and let it dry after I invariably swamp it.

I installed a Global Roamer increased capacity cooling finned transfer case sump. Should help keep things cooler during those heavy periods of offroading or while driving through inland Australia.

Fished out 3 fairly large pieces of steel from the old transfer case sump.. hoping they're not that important! Any ideas? Is this the beginning of the end?

In other news, I've purchased a Long Range Automotive 65l drivers side sill tank. Seems like a well made unit.

    Hey, I like that sump.

It would make it a hell of a lot easier to remove with a jack, too...

Do you think the sump is a bit more susceptible to damage now? as it not as tucked away.

I don't like the look of those bits you found in the sump ! Start saving for a tcase rebuild.

Indeed. The instructions even state it can be used to jack from when removing the transfer case. It is a fairly solid unit.

No, the new sump is not really that low. Still sits above the chassis rails and other parts such as the handbrake drum are still lower.
