I know what you're saying, the clunk doesn't seem right.
Yes the airbags extend further than coils, that's why it's important to set the shocks up right. An easy way to check how much your bags extend before your shocks fully extend is to simply pump the bags up and watch how close the bags are from their limit. You may find you need to lower your top shock mount.

I have the exact same problem with my 110. Still looking for a solution unfortunately, but will try the limit strap in the mean time. The sound of the shock running out of travel is not nice.

Hi Tim - was hoping you would reply, but was also hoping you had the same problem and a solution to go with it! :)

I reckon straps are a good stop-gap solution, if not a permanent one. Just need to work out what length.

Hi Ranga, I've recently been on a trip with a bloke that runs Patrols, and has one that he races. He has a really talented contact regarding setting up and building custom dampers, unfortunately he is also very difficult to get hold of and can disappear for 6 months at a time.

When I do get some more info I'll be sure to post up my findings.

No worries Tim, more on the job the better! before the trailing arm broke I must say that I was very impressed with how the whole suspension was working over the corrugations. All the Japanese white goods driver's were all complaining how bad the road was in spots but I must have been on a different road! When in weipa we had a patrol hire car for a few days and were amazed at how harsh it was compared, admittedly it was probably just factory suspension, but it was seriously rough.

Well, we made it home under our own steam! Everyone happy to have their bed to sleep in, been an awesome trip :)

Its the things that don't go to plan that make the best campfire stories - and you've got a couple out of this trip ;)
