Out of interest what tube bender did you use
and what tubing is the barwork made from
I really like you work.
And I think an Al sheet for the roof would be a great option for heat load but also much nicer to walk around on!
Just a quick opinion, if you moved the across roof bar rearward about 75mm, you would then be able to mount a light bar along the roof nicely with the Al sheet coming up to protect it from loads on the roof.

On the subject of aluminium sheet on the roof rack...
I've just put a sheet of 3mm tread plate, 2400mm x 1200mm, on top of our full-length aluminium roof rack - best thing I've done in ages. Makes it heaps easier walking around on top (when loading/unloading the roof bag, for example), and makes a huge difference to the temperature inside.
Will also make an awesome platform to put the folding chairs on and watch the next lot of racing at Lakeside or similar...
Hi, the bender is aussie made by speedwerx, I got the air over hydraulic one, is a good thing. The tube is 1 3/4" CDS, min 350Mpa. Seamless tube made in Germany for roll cages.Quote:

The cage weighs just under 45kg, so with brackets and ally sheet should be about 55kg total, happy with that :)
What's a steel ARB roof rack weigh? Can't be much difference.

cage looks epic, something i really wanna do, have you got any close up pics of how it mounts to the body, and do you run anything behind those mount points?
Thanks, the rear hoop goes through the bodywork and is tied down to the chassis. The front mounts to the windscreen hinge with three 10mm HT bolts, centre bolts to the top door hinge. Have no photos sorry and are away with work this week. bit of mucking around but works well. The cage is fully welded and painted off the vehicle then bolted back in position. I'm about to make another one for someone else and can make more if anyone interested, sorry if I'm not allowed to say this here!Quote:
