Thanks, they look ideal but are a bit out of my price range unfortunately. For now I have just used rachet straps rated at about 200kg each. Probably should get a bit heavier ones but dont want to go too bulky sticking out. A small version of the truck load binder or chain dog would be ideal.Quote:

No worries. It's a "James Baroud" RTT, french design, made in europe. When I was looking and read reviews etc it seemed to come out ontop for quality, design etc. They are top shelf and cost over $5K, I was lucky to find this brand new but damaged one for a lot less than that, but I had to repair a small section of the fiberglass on top where you cant see anyhow. Look up their website for all the info, but they do use some good materials like the canvas is some hi tech 6 layer material resistant to mold and breathes etc, it has a solar powered fan to reduce condensation, and the foam mattress is specially developed and really is the best camping foam mattress I slept on. It's only about 50mm thick but comfier than out old camper trailer's 75mm thick one. They make a few different modles, some open like a clam, but I chose the verticle pop up type as it makes a better shape for attaching the awning. We have only just come back from our first camping trip and are very happy with it. The only things to be aware of are the insect mesh is ok for flies but not small enough for tiny insects, and although it is simple and very quick to set up (just pop 4 over center clamps), packing up takes a bit of a knack, feels awkward at first but I've worked out a system and not too bad now.Quote:

A photo from our first camping trip over christmas. All went well, easy to set up and take off tray.
When we got back from camping I stripped the Landy down, the make over has began...
The plan is to respray it, finish off the interior/soundproofing etc, fit AC, fix or build another tray, plus too many other jobs all to be finished for our cape trip the end of june.
I decided to have the offset changed on the wolf rims as with the airbag suspension the tyres rub on a few points and one of the rear airbags. They will be moved 15mm so will end up with about +5mm rims X6.
Today I stripped the whole dash out, so the poor old landy is looking a bit sad, but is for a good cause. I cleaned the firewall and applied dynamat. Good to now be at the turning point and starting to fix/restore and put back together.
Will start on panel beating the doors soon, think I will just tap the small dents out and then bog. Any tips be great!
Since you've got good access...
Check the ignition switch is secure, as the switch part can come loose in the barrel. Not a show stopper with the Isuzu, but inconvenient.
Also find out if there is a freshen up that you can give to the wiper mechanism/motor.

Consider adding some thicker sound proofing to the firewall because Dynamat is designed for reducing vibration on panels like doors, roofs etc. You need stuff like Formshield or thick dense rubber to decrease noise transmission. Dynamat will help but it can be made better with extra barrier material. Also make sure you seal up any holes where wires go through the firewall

Thought the Arnott bags reversed the harder spring rate, the higher you went when compared with the Dunlop OEM bags - certainly that's my experience with P38s.
Good idea to freshen up the wiper works Steve, will see if I can clean and lube it. My ignition switch should be all good as it is new, old one was stuffed.
Thanks Nick for the sound proofing tips, its a bit like tyres, everyone has different idea! But always happy for ideas :) The main reason I used the dynamat is that I already have it and I'm not sure thick sound proofing will fit, but I do plan to see if I can add some other material where it will fit. I'm sure the dynamat will make a difference to sound and heat, and like you said I will make sure all holes are plugged.
What do you think?, the options I have for additional sound proofing are;
* 7mm PVC closed cell type foam from an aldi fittness mat (is squishier than the foam in camping mats and feels a lot heavier for a same size roll)
* or probably the better option if it fits is 19mm proper sound proofing open cell foam which I got as rejects from new military armoured vehicles. It is 19mm thick but is made up of 5mm and 12mm open cell foam sheets with a dense vinyl layer sandwitched in between. It also has an army green cotton outer lining on the thick side. The foam seems fairly light as in not super dense but because of the vinyl (think its vinyl?) core a small sheet feels quite heavy.
