I asked Plugger who he wants the actor to be and he said "Dwayne The Rock Johnson" of course (I think he is more of a Simon Pegg type of dude though!!) What about Chris Pratt, Jude Law or Tom Hiddlestone plays Plugger and it would be a toss-up between Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson for the love interest....

    so who's playing Tricky?
I'm thinking Mr Cool Sam Elliot,,
Sam Elliot is kinda cool and and timeless...

    Lets give this more thought..

    Liam Neeson? too Jaded?
    Michael Cain? too old?
    Pierce Brosnan? too Pierce Brosnan?

Sean Bean? too ... that could work?
Anthony Hopkins perhaps?? Definitely not Christian Bale (don't like him as an actor), Sean Connery would have a look-in as well as Alec Guiness, Oliver Reed or Patrick Stewart. But for me, Its Jason Statham. My wife even recons I look like him!

Maybe we should have a poll!!

    Cheers,
    Tricky

    More Stuff!!

    OK, Back on topic....

Got time on Sunday to do some more painting on the Ol' Camel. Unfortunately time is becoming more and more precious as we hurtle towards our first open home this weekend - fingers crossed!! Still, Plugger and I managed to scrape together a handful of hours to devote to the project just to keep it ticking along! So we decided to shoot some colour! Here are the doors and the tailgate in their final topcoat, all nice and shiny. They aren't perfect, but they are a hell of a lot better than they were before they went under the gun. Need to paint the hinges black now before we start reassembling them and putting the logo's on...

And today, being Friday, I knocked off work a bit earlier and went to the Powder-Coaters to pick up the bar work for the truck that has been sitting there for about 4 weeks - just could not get a break to go and pick them up!! They turned out great and the ripple coat gloss black looks a treat. Should look very nice against the yellow of the car...

Well that's about it for this update, a bit small I know, sorry!! We are so time-poor at the moment its lucky that anything gets done at all!

OK, well hopefully we will be able to update this thread with more substantial material in the next installment early next week.

    Cheers and thanks,
    Tricky and Plugger

Did the roll bar need to be engineered to be deemed roadworthy

Reason I'm asking is I have I inherited a full roll cage for my 2a but as much as I would like to reinstate it I have no engineering history and are a little concerned about roadworthy criteria.

or....................... Maybe I'm overthinking things too much again

    Cheers Paul

An internal cage has to be certified by a VASS engineer, an external one does not. Having the seatbelts mount to it definitely means engineer approval. This is for Victoria, not sure about other states. I'm dealing with this at the moment...

    Looking great Tricky and Plugger!!

Keep up the good work, and keep us updated.
My project has been floundering a bit over the last couple of months... so I like to read these projects to give myself a bit of inspiration.

Loved reading through your thread Tricky. Was hoping that it’d be finished and young Plugger would be driving it by the time I came to page 33 but alas life has got in the way!

Keep up the good work! And love your other projects (the Vdub and minis - they look awesome too).

Yes mate it does. Anything to do with passenger SRS - additions/deletions/alterations - has to be inspected and certified by an Approved Engineer. This then appears on your blue plate (QLD) along with the brake alterations (booster) and the engine alterations (non-standard powerplant). There are also guidelines for external roll cages too which you must adhere to....

Thanks Pete. Thanks for the kind words mate. I am glad that our foray into the world of Land Rover restoration provides you with some inspiration, if not enjoyment!! Have you got a thread here on AULRO? I love to see what other people are doing!! Good luck mate and keep at it.

Howdy Gus. Thanks for the kind words as well champ. I was hoping to be finished as well but our original number of hours to complete the project was hugely optimistic. But we will keep going until its done! Plugger turns 16 in January so I was hoping to have it finished not long after this. But, in saying that, the last 3 months have been taken up with house reno's/maintenance now that we are moving north. Every Saturday morning is an open home so that conflicts with Camel-time! Plus, the weather being rainy etc means we can't paint all the time. But, we will keep going and sooner or later it will be done! Can't wait for that date to be honest! Thanks for the kind words about the other projects - working on a Rover 3500 atm with a Toyota 1UZFE V8 and supra 5-speed in it.....

    Cheers and thanks,
    Tricky

A little light reading for you if you get time ...only 19 pages; you've probably stumbled across it before.
