Disco, relocation of ignition system for dual battery

My disco use to have a dual battery setup which worked well just for my engel overnight, but I wanted something that would last longer, so I have started moving the ignition system and aftermarket cruise control to where the old battery was, so I will have the room to put a BIGGER deep cycle battery.

    Old Setup :

    New Setup :

As you can see I have removed the old, smaller battery and relocated the ignition coil/amplifier also had to move the aftermarket cruise control.

Just wondering how I should move the power steering bottle ? just a longer bracket ?

Also should I make up a splash guard so the ignition system doesn't get wet ?

Once I have moved the power steering bottle and tidyed up some of the wiring, I'll go get a bigger deep cycle battery.

Will post pics once I have done that.

Yup - just cut the bracket from the mounting and extend the bit in the middle.

one of the discos I did that to was just a case of fabricating 3 l bracket and then riveting them together to from a re-inforced piece of angle ally that I then drilled to suit the exisiting resivior. I then moved the resivior around untill I found some place that kept the hoses out of trouble pop marked the wheel guard drilled it then bolted it down.

Sounds very tempting but I'm just wanting to see where they've actually been moved too. I'm due for some new ps hoses so I want to relocate the reservoir and if needed fab up different length hoses to suite the new spot.

I don't mind fabbing up my own brackets, but I just want to see what others have done to fit the extra battery in. Coils the easy part, just the reservoir is a little more involved.

    Totally forgot about this

I relocated the PS, but never brought a bigger battery because the one I had was still working. Will be buying one in the next 6 months though as the current one is on its way out atm.

The bracket I just made longer using a bit of scrap metal and a couple of bolts and also cross braced it. It has been like that for a couple of years now and have had no problems.

Some pics that i had on my computer, if u need better ones let me know.

    Matt.
