It hs been months since I have added any updates, so I thought I better do it. I have slowly been getting a bit more done and hopefully now it is not far aff going to the mechanics to get the gas installed, then I can finally start her up.
1. I have added an engine oil cooler. It is an auto cooler from a P38 so it should be plenty lage enough.
2. I have also added a custom auto cooler. This is mounted at the back of the cab so it is out of the way of any mud. I will still have to make some sort of guard to protect it a bit.
3. I have finished most of the work on the engine bay, including tidying up all the wiring, installing all hoses and belts etc. Just need to get some spark plugs and install the leads and plumb in the air hoses from the compressor. I will have a 20litre air ank mounted on the back.
I am going to let the mechanic install the air filter as I am not sure how it will all go when he adds the LPG mixer etc.
4. I managed to get all the wiring finished inside and got the dash back together. I have hooked up a battery and tested everything, and after a few glitches were sorted out it all seems good. I have added a few extra guages including voltage, oil prssure, oil temp and auto oil temp.
Switches for the lockers are on the centre console while a used existing factory switches for the air compressor, driving lights and off switch for the thermo fans.
Steering wheel still has to e recovered but that can wait.
I also sprayed the entire inside of the cab with Hippo Liner. I am not planning to have any carpet at all, so the Hippo Liner give a good covering. I will jsut put some rubber mats in the floor wells.
5. I bought a new centre console from Les Richmond which should be a lot stronger than the original
6. I had the original Rangie seats re-upholstered and had the sides of the seats bulstered a bit. With all the new padding I sit a bit high now, but I am hoping it will settle/sink down quickly.
7. I added extended braided brakelines.
8. And finally a managed to sqeeze in a 4" stainless steel snorkel. I stuffed up the cut in the decker panel when installing it. I was hoping to find another panel but this is looking unlikely now. I have made up a template which you can see in the pic and at worst I will make up a cover from aluminium and pop it on.
I did have a custom tube bar for the front which I bought a couple of years ago. But the other month I picked up a 2nd hand high mount winch which came with a very clean ARB bar. So the ARB bar has gone to be sandblasted and powder coated and it will go on soon.
