I scored some 136 x 30mm Spotted Gum boards. Cut them down today and started the long process of drilling and screwing down

Once done, I'll have to pull it all out, paint the frame of the tray Black and Oil the deck.

Used the Hilift to make sure it was all pushed together tight.

    Its great looking Timber.

I reckon its looking good too!

I'm not sure if I would squeeze it together too tight though. When the wood picks up moisture from rain, humidity etc it swells particularly across the grain (across the deck as you've done it) and it may buckle or burst up.
    Cheers

my free timber was the last 14 pieces of about 150... they aren't the best... so a few were buckled i had to straighten, they were about 5-6 mm apart at one end

tray is all done, relpaced all the wheel bearings and brake wheel cylinders. so now the brakes from master cyl to wheel cylinder is all new.

Still need tierods, paint, door tops, wiper, new windscreen
    window rubbers for roadworthy

have to fit some tyres i got and also finish the wiring, these are my next 2 jobs as they are essentially 'no cost' jobs.

Sad day yesterday watching the Landy go to a new home on the back of a trailer. Bought by someone who will finish it off. A Young bloke form Bendigo. So alls good. It was ripper fun. I just lost time and money to finish the project and my priorities have changed.

My only 'project' now is a pair of 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot's

Sometimes life can be like that unfortunately. At least you can take solace in the fact that the work you've done has become a great starting off point for someone else. I know I certainly wouldn't mind being in the new owner's shoes if I had the time and money for a new project.
