Some of the lads have asked me to post some photos of my current project. I have an ex NSW railways twin cab that i wanted to set up as a tourer and have some decent grunt. I like the TD5 in my disco (after it was chipped) but 3.5 Tonnes plus towing a trailer in a head wind is not my cup of tea trying to maintain a reasonable speed, hence a bigger motor. I have a 6.2 Chev Diesel in my Rangie but wanted a Direct injection motor for efficiency. Found a motor and Allison 6 speed package and bought it to start the conversion. I am hoping to have it on the road late in the year depending on work.
The motor is rated at 360 HP and just under 900nm of torque so hills should not worry it.

Sounds very interesting

Nice work! Dare I ask how much it weighs!!?
How far into the firewall does that motor sit?
Cheers

Psimpson7 wroteI forget the weight but it is about 20kg heavier that a 6.2 / 6.5 chev diesel. Alloy heads certainly help keep the weight down. I have the motor sitting back a fair way so that should help with weight distribution.Nice work! Dare I ask how much it weighs!!?
