Yep Bunnings has the ply and carpet, the drawer runners you'll need to get elsewhere, a company in Tassie sell them on Ebay.

the marine carpet from bunnings dont really take much punnishment(ive used a few different ones from there) marine ply fastners ect unnings is good, im in the process of setting up my boot to and i was going to use the roller bearing for the runners but it worked out cheaper and a better product to buy proper heavy duty runners,

I'm currently busy building a drawer for my 110...(95% complete) most of my stuff is sourced from bunnings. used the aluminium square tubing with 'connect-it' fittings.. works very well for a frame and lightweight. carpet also from them.
my drawer itself is made out of 2mm aluminium with wood being used for sectioning compartments.
the drawer slide i bought from a computer company using server rack slides. works just as good.

Thanks for the info guys. Do you reckon I'll need runners for the drawer, I wasn't planning on using them? Some of the others who've posted their storage projects haven't used runners. I suppose it depends what I'll be putting in the drawer - probably some heavy stuff, so may be runners would be good. Better think some more about that ...

yeboants, did you get all your aluminium (tubing and 2mm) from Bunnings?

yes.. it works out about $7 for a metre length. the fittings are about $2-3 each. best to plan exactly what you need, how much and how many fittings required. It works out a a bit more expensive but it is a much nicer/sturdier finish in imo.
for extra strength i pop riveted all my tubes onto the fittings.. very easy. at least i know they will never pull apart.
as for the carpet.. i used the ones (from bunnings approx $15 sqm) with the rough side underneath that glues onto the drawers. i would suggest one with a smoother underside as it will stick better.. think there are some at bunnings with a rubbermat underneath and carpet ontop..

ps. forgot to add. the 2mm sheet i bought from a place in the virginia area. cost $90 for a 240x160 cm-ish sheet.. tad expensive but cheapest i could find. cant remember the name though unfortunately...

Well after procrastinating for a few months, I'm finally having a crack at building my storage drawer. I was undecided for a little while about whether to go the plywood option, or try something similar to what Yeobants describes above. I actually went and had a look at his setup, and was very impressed, but in the end I thought I might save a few dollars by making it out of ply.

I wouldn't say I'm the handiest of people when it comes to this sort of thing - I've been working on and off for a couple of days and still not quite finished! Straight cuts don't seem to be my specialty ...

But I'm nearly there now, the end is in sight. Pictures will follow eventually, although with a couple of minor exceptions, I've really just copied the Numpties and cewilson, so there's nothing earth shattering to see.

One question I have for those who've done something similar to this or know something about ply - should I be sealing the exposed ends, either with paint or something else, to protect from potential water damage? Is ply likely to fall apart if it cops a bit of water?

Hopefully tomorrow I'll finish it all off - after a nice relaxing night with a beer or 2 watching the Wallabies v France test.

Still haven't quite finished, I need to get some marine carpet and also have a frige slide to build, but it's getting there. Pretty happy with the outcome so far. I coated the drawer with some silicone spay and it slides beautifully!
