Thanks for your kind comments Ray:D
As far as your Rangie is concerned...I think my - and Andrew's - very tolerant wife would have some serious words with us if we dared to take on a project like this one in the near future. It has taken up prettywell all of our time over the past 2 months.
And besides, even if we were "allowed" to do other modifications, I somehow think you would have to get in line;)

0 days to go. This will be our last post for a while. We leave in the morning.
Last night and today we finished off odds and ends and a few bigger jobs.
Completed the awning extension

Made some brush guards - not as easy as it looks

Test run the quad bike trailer built by my nephew. (not bad since it was only started last weekend. ) Using S1 Disco hubs, bearings, Defender wheels and shocks with Hilux springs) We went for leaf springs instead of coils for 2 reasons, one to keep the height down and secondly because we had these lying around.

And about 100 other jobs, including installing a water tank.

Have a safe trip & hope the Defender runs true.
Thankyou for your very interesting project build.
I have enjoyed reading & viewing your story.

Well, Erich & Andrew left at 4 this morning.
Sharon & Alfred are already in Darwin waiting for them, hopefully if all goes to plan, the boys should get to Darwin late Tuesday. Then on Wednesday they collect the Quad and head back to Gapuwiyak where they will spend a few days.
Dale (Stuuu) has kindly offered to drive out to Gapuwiyak on Monday week to pick the boys up and take them to Gove. No doubt a few ales will be consumed on Monday evening;)
They catch the early flight to Cairns on December 1 and arrive back in Sydney at 4pm.
They hopefully will be in daily contact with me, so I will post any interesting information. Not sure whether Andy has taken his laptop, but I guess when they get back to Sharon & Alfred's place they will put something on the Forum.
Thank you to everyone for your interest and support. It's been wonderful.
Now, I have a shed to clean up!!
Sheila
I was hoping to maybe drive out with Dale on Monday too. Can't get time off work as I'm on leave from the 2-Dec anyway.
Hope they have a great trip even though it is going to be somewhat quick. Are they going to try and come in via the top track still or just through the bottom trsck?
They are coming in the usual way, the Bulman Track. There are 3 river crossings on the top track and only one on the Bulman. Also the top track is in poor condition at present (maybe the Bulman will be as well), and one of the crossings is quite deep, according to Alfred's information.
They thought since they will be taking the Quad in, it wasn't worth the risk.
I calculated the difference in distance, and the top track is not a great deal shorter - less than 100 kilometers.
Pity you can't go with Dale though.
Wish them safe travels from us Sheila.
Baz.
I thought that might be the case. All the info I have suggests the Bullman track is in really bad condition. QAL Transport (bunch of cowboys) are still bringing in road freight to Gove and they drive very dangerously in very large semi's and won't give way to anything - not just my experience either.
