    Bundalenes Daughters 130 repair job

My father Erich (bundalene) and i have bought a 130 to fix up for my sister Sharon, and her hubby Alfred in remote NT. They currently have a 99 td5 defender, which is serving them very well, but a 130 DC would suit them better.

Now, if any of you know me or dad personally, you will know how much we hoard things, and often buy bits and pieces because they are too cheap to pass up. Bits and pieces that we will use "one day".

One of these pieces, which turned up on ebay a few years ago, was a 130 body shell, complete with doors, roof etc from the firewall back. Thrown in was a hard top canopy, with canvas sides, to suit a dual cab tray 130. We bought it cheap, and have been waiting ever since until we needed it.

Today I bought an 01 td5 130 dual cab from the auctions, which had a light rollover. The car is an ex railways car with 250K on the clock.

Inside looks a bit rough, with a torn seat, saggy headliner, and heat affected steering wheel. However, laying underneath, there are no oil leaks (yes it had oil smartypants), and it looks like it has never had any leaks ever. Now this and a few other little things gives me a gut feeling it had been looked after mechanically rather than cosmetically.

It gets delivered monday, then the fun begins.

    Good work Andy.

So where does this one fit in the 'to do' list?

Would it be easier to do a roof swap or is it worse than it looks?

Its pretty high on the list, I will be having a week off work soon to go at it hammer and tong.

Will be doing a roof/windscreen frame swap, pulling the b pillars foward (they are 10-15mm back), swaping the front doors and outer wings with spares.

I also bought that 93 defender from the markets with the rusty sills for spares.

It would have been treated with the same respect a ****ed rugby player would give a balinese call girl, it would been used and abused as much as humanly possible and serviced minimally but regularly and as cheaply as it can be by the lowest local tender.

Q: has it still got the train horn and compressor attached? I could use them

Heres a few more photos of parts we have hoarded, which will help with the build up.

My old Arb front bar, origionally a non winch bar. I started to modifying it for a low mount, it only needs the center bar installing and a bit of paint.

A steel ICR tray from a 110 trayback, needs cutting and shutting to fit. This may or may not be used.

    The body shell.

    The canopy.

The donor car with rust in the sills.

Looks like it'll keep you busy. If you get a chance, some pics would be great.

    heres some pics

The jury is still out to part out the blue car or not. It needs new sills, a bit of TLC inside, and a few patches on the firewall, and its ready for another 250,000kms. Yes its a 200tdi. If you want a power stering pump, pm justin c, he may have one.
