It will be white. The end. Land rovers werent meant to look clean. Changing the colour will add 1K and 2 weeks, which could be better spent doing other things.
AND mr hoarder has some TD5 defender white paint laying around already.:D
Tyres, BFG muds KM2s, looking at 305x70x16 (33x12x16). I'm buying 5 tyres, and the 6th one will be a 255x85 or similar (33x10x16), as we already have these.
I will need to change the wheels to 16x8s aswell, and change the offset, to achieve full lock without scrubbing.
I didnt realise that 16 inch tyres were about $50 more per tyre than the 15 inch equivalant. There goes the budget. 2.5k in wheels and tyres.....
It was put to work today, delivering parcels. They are a handy thing these utes.

It will have the same type of paint treatment as dads silver car got. wheel arches, mirrors, grill, headlight surrounds, bullbar etc all colour coded. Windows will be a darker shade of tint.

26th October - we both got quite a few hours at the project today
Next stage - I am tidying up all panels and painting and Andrew is attacking the tray - back end of the 130.
This is the right guard and will be replaced with another at hand.

While removing the grill we noticed the A/C condensor missing most of it's fixing screws
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/534...ember26006.jpg
Bugger - broke the bonnet cable release screw. I ground away the screw without damaging the cable but will probably get a new one cable.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/448...ember26009.jpg
Guards removed. This was a country car all it's life. Absolutely no rust in the firewall or anywhere on the whole vehicle

The radiator, intercooler and A/C condensor are completely blocked with grass seeds and grit. We will remove the radiator and have it serviced at the radiator joint and clean up the rest
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1...ember26022.jpg
Note the hose from the radiator to the radiator fill bottle - almost rubbed through. I wonder how many TD5's have come to grief because of this - a common problem with both Defenders and Discos

Changing guard indicator hole size to suit the later indicators. These are 300TDi guard outers going onto a TD5.

Sanding prior to hifill. Both front guards ready for hifill primer.

Andrew cutting up our steel tray off a 110. The headboard had been removed and the tray shortened to fit the 130. We are cutting a well - storage compartment into the floor of the tray to hold the spare tyre and room for lot's more.

The aluminium tray removed.

Will be cutting an inspection hole through the tray for access to the fuel pump. It is amazing what conditions the TD5 fuel pumps are subjected to.

Not much thought gone into the positioning of the fuel tank breather - to be re-routed elsewhere.

Has anyone seen polyair bags in the helper springs on a 130? i've never heard of it before. (yes the car needs a wash)

I'm sinking the tyre into the tray. There is alot of wasted space in the middle under a tray, This will be well, accessed from the top. Its 1m wide, and the length of the tray. It will be enough room for the high lift jack and spares. Theres alot of other space under the tray which is normally wasted, i will try to fill every nook and cranny with storage.

[QUOTE=dullbird;1079016]yeah but its harder when ours are 14000 miles away:DQUOTE]
I wish my sister was 14000kms away, then nene overland would be doing this build.
:D
Hey Andrew
Just a thought
If you were to have a decent load on the tray and get a flat tyre, is there another way of getting at the tyre?
