G'day mate...
Born and bred in Newcastle ( my dad is Big John who runs the local bike toy run there every year) and met the leyland brothers when I was a youngster.. Worked for land rover newcastle for a while back in the 80's..Took off traveling the world 24 years ago and started a very successful land rover repair shop in ft lauderdale Florida and recently sold it to drive around the world in our restored camel trophy defender 110 to come back home.. Also have another 2 ct trucks I am bringing home as well... Will be starting another rover restoration and repair shop when I get home.. Would love to get my hands on a Leyland brothers rig to restore her and use her as she was used before.. Would love to do some tribute runs of famous Leyland brothers routes also.. If you ever want to sell this one please let me know or if you know of any others I would love to save em.. You can check out what we are doing on our website at YoungRovers.com..

Thanks for the interest, I intend to persist with this one and I also think it would be the wrong thing to do (selling it on) unless my health gives out etc.
Far as I'm concerned the vehicle belongs here at AULRO and should remain this way.
I plan to sell on my partly restored Range Rover Phase2 and put the resources towards the restoration.
Unfortunately I have major time restraints to do too much ATM, but she is high and dry.(Out of weather and out of direct sun light)
I would never take it away from AULRO.., I am driving around the world and coming home to Newcastle where I will be having a collection/museum of my camel trophy vehicles and memorabilia as well as starting up a land rover repair and restoration shop (my business over here which started out as small "keep myself busy" kinda shop grew to 16 employees and was called The Rover Shop).. I don't believe in keeping these vehicles in a museum, I prefer to use them (gently) as they were meant to be used and hope to have some old school land rover get togethers or reunion runs as well as promoting these unique vehicles through tribute websites which I own (www.AskTheLeylandBrothers and www.TheLeylandBrothers... Yet to finish the building of these sites..). I am reaching out to Mr Mal Leyland at the moment and hoping to get some information from him as well as other Leyland Brothers items to add to my collection.. I am not a rich guy, just really into my land rovers.. Especially my older ones.. I was blessed to work at the Newcastle land rover dealer many years ago and the green got into my blood.. Upon my return my services and hopefully my shop will be at your disposal, I would be privileged to be a part of saving these bits of australian 4wd and exploration history..

After being away for an overnight run to Rangier Rover's place and seeing AYI-077 again, when I came home I did a bit of asking around/sniffing about etc and found out that the bulkhead I had for AYI-077 did indeed, still exist.
To cut a long story short, it was taken by mistake and I was under the understanding that it had been scrapped, well today I found it leaning up against a tree (image is sideways)
and another shot
I'm chuffed that it is still available and hasn't been scrapped, so now it needs to be claimed and moved, cheers Dennis

Only just found this thread, any advance on the restoration? I'd help out with the electrickery side of things but being in Tassie makes it a bit hard and I watched the Leyland brothers any and every time it was on as a little tacker. Was a Sunday night favourite in our family
With that firewall, I have some bits and pieces that go with that year build and if whoever is reassembling then finds out there is something missing they could shoot be a PM and I should be able to round something up for them.
