Just saw Quest For Vanished Giants, where the Leyland Brothers travelled to Lake Callabonna to search for Diprotodon bones. Lots of shots of AYI077, the bits are a bit different to the Trek To The Top episode, They trailered some three wheeled bikes to explore the lake. There is another episode on now but they are in Jeeps.

This is a great thread. It makes my heart swell with Oz pride that there is so much love for our history and respect all around.

Great to be part of the LR community, nothing else like it!

I have done very little with AYI to date for various reasons.
A local paper here has done an article on it and I have had a overwhelming amount of interest from many people in our area. Some who want to help get her back on track.
A few have suggested when its all done to partly rein-act some of the expeditions. Just need to find a nice 109 Tray back to make the picture I think a few members here have a 2a six 109 tray in the same colour.
If I cant find any remains of the original I may come up with a replica of it for the purpose if this all happens.

Or should AYI be displayed only.

    What do you think?

Any one want to have a crack at knocking up a look alike of that moon buggy thing

Hopefully as winter sets in we will get back on track with this.

With all due respect, that buggy looked like a dog to drive - offset steering wheel, no suspension travel - I couldn't see the point of driving into the crater - why not walk? It wasn't carrying anything other than Mal and the missus.

Oh well, I s'pose back then you could drive anywhere so ; why not?

I reckon you need the big tinny strapped to the roof though.
