    3801 Steam Locomotive

    G'day Folks

In regards to the railway workshops doing other wartime work, yes they were very busy as they had heavy engineering facilities, among other things they built LP-1 and LP2-2a Bren gun Carriers, and I think they also cast the early Cruiser Tank turrets, and were engaged in armour plate production/ shaping, similar work was undertaken by both Victorian Rwy workshops and Adelaide.

    cheers

Any truth to the rumour it was painted grey as a 'Stealth' colour so that the government could sweep it under ther carpet (so to speak) without anyone noticing ?

Vlad, knowing the contempt the NSW government has for all things rail, probably got some truth to the rumour.

They are doing everything in there power to get all rail connected facilities out of the workshops at Redfern so they can sell it off to their rich mates.

Ah well it all makes sense you see. Those railways are so antiquated. Why have rail freight etc when we have such a vast network of quality roads for...

    ... wait a minute ....

They need a bit of this
