    Tigerz 11 yellow rope sleeve

I installed a 12000lb Tigerz11 Grande winch on the D3 a couple of weeks ago. All good and working well.
In the box, there was a yellow fabric sleeve about 2m long that looks like it should fit over the rope to protect the rope. Does this sound right? The yellow sleeve can not be put on the rope over the loop that attaches to the hook.
Should I spool out the rope and slide it over from the end that attaches to the winch? How is the rope end attached to the Tigerz winch?

Yep unspool. The end of the rope will most likely be attached to drum by a battery cable lug on the rope and a very short screw. If doing long winches a lot pays to carry a spare of both.
Is it there as a thermal barrier for the rope against the drum?
Or as an abrasion protector for the rope.?

Its there to let you know that you are about to unspool the rope. Once it appears, stop unspooling as there are about 4 turns left on the drum....

I always thought they were abrasion guards for when winching over rocks..I guess you could put one on either end

got one and tossed that sleave out and put one of these on both ends 5M SYNTHETIC DYNEEMA WINCH ROPE SLEEVE SOCK 4X4 GQ HILUX GU NISSAN WARN TOYOTA | eBay

My thinking was that solar effect on the dyneema rope could be an issue and 2m did not come close to covering the rope on the drum from sun light, rocks and similar could be an issue a sleave could help with and I heard that when underload chaffing will occur on the final wraps of the rope on the drum itself. Not sure if any of this is true. The 5m sleaves slip a little which is either great or poor. I think the ablity to move the sleave up near the hook might be great as when I winch over a rocky outcrop I will be able to move the sleave to that point helping protect the rope. I have whipped the top sleave up near the hook using braided fishing line. Whipping is not a bondage trick see [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMq9KdOtSJ0]How to Whip the Ends of Rope by TIAT - YouTube[/ame]

Thats it mate...I came up with the idea (because when i am in the vehicle i cannot see the 5 wraps you need to leave on so i mentioned too spray flouro paint on the wire so you know when to stop)..Some blokes said a great idea and a few blokes mentioned that theres come with covers already...Depending on manufacturer...
