I experienced the same problem with my S1 tank when removed from the vehicle. I had it pressure cleaned and it was returned to me with a thousand holes, it would have made a good watering can. I had one made at Southern Cross Stainless Steel Pty Ltd in Sydney. One of the apprentices needed a project for his final year as a sheet metal worker and my tank fitted his need perfectly. He removed all the original fittings and transferred them to the new S/S fabricated tank. The top was put on last and he had a lot of trouble with warping of the sheet so ended up making a 10mm top and welding that in. He made a magnificent job and it fitted the chassis like a glove. The cost in Stainless steel? FREE, he past his final year with his project and his father (the owner) was so pleased that he didn't want to charge me a cent. Maybe you could find an apprentice with the same enthusiasm at a sheet metal workshop near you?

If you can still work with it buy some "Red Kote" and re-seal it. Have done that on 3 vehisles myself and it works great - they reckon its good for about 20 years. I have fixed splits over 1mm wide with it, then just sealed the outer side and painted the thing prior to re-fitting.

Can get it thru ebay or search it on google and find the distributor in QLD (I think). About $70 delivered.

Another vote for this product from me. Repaired 2 11A tanks with this and worked a treat.

I would be happy to swap your old tank for a good alloy tank.

maybe have one made slightly smaller (so it can fit inside the existing shell) and fit is so that you have best of both worlds, new tank, correct outside profile!

that said, give redkote a shake, not heard anything bad about it yet!!
