    Lights behind the Grille

Now the purist's can throw rocks at me if they like
I have a couple of pairs of Butler lights the reflecors are are tarnished
    .
Now i know you can get them Re silvered and new type bulbs
Thw ww2 jeep headlights are almost identical i have a few sets NOS and they are cheaper than the L/R ones.
So i fitted Hella H4 head lights into the jeep ones as you can't see em through the grille. I can run 80/90 H4's that you can buy anywhere........

I fail to see anything wrong with a bit of lateral thinking. Good one.

Fair dinkum, If you do a little searching (series one shop victoria) you can get the originals at not so much a dear price Leave the butchering to the other types not the 80"

Surprisingly enough i dont think $800 for a pair of headlights is reasonable. Would you rather the vehicle was just scrapped? If someone can return an 80 inch to the roads using slightly different headlights that only a rivet counter would spot then good on him. At least it means he can drive and display his pride and joy while waiting for the stock market to increase enough to be able to afford the 'right' replacements. Maybe if the retailer moved away from the profiteering daylight robbery associated with old land rover parts people might actually be motivated to seek out the right parts. If its branded series one land rover expect it to be many hundreds of dollars more expensive than the same massey fergusson tractor part.

It is Groucho's car and he can do what he likes with it!

A top modification at a sensible price - well done Groucho!

I have had the pleasure or mis pleasure of driving a 80" at night
with the original lights that give off the dull yellow glow of 2 candles and droop
down to the bumper when at idle.
