no i did not try to get it running.
it looks like it could go with fresh sparks and fuel. it is very solid and the chassis has no rust. i would seriously consider buying it if but my series 2a just had major engine failure and i need the money for that.
he has about 13 landrovers on his property. he collected them to stop them from being scrapped. he says ther are all for sale but seems to want top dollar for them. he seems like he knows what he is on about when it comes to land rovers.
if any one is interested in this car please let me know and i can get inn contact with him on your behalf as he has no telephone.
did he have any other series ones there
at least 2 more but they are both swb and he uses them on the farm.
ok well back to the ute to be honest if you are tied up with something i wouldnt bother with this one if you could get it started then maybe but there is alot of money involved with it
I agree with Tony - I would want to hear it running and be able to drive it for that price.
The best selling point is the lack of rust and I also like the colour and the after-market indicator switch - if I bought it I would keep both.
Things to look out for, would be the possible need to overhaul the:
1. Engine - cost me $2400 just for the machining
2. Steering box - not sure if these are similar to the 80" but if so, expensive to rebuild and not a good type anyway because wear cannot be adjusted.
3. Full brake rebuild - almost a certainty.
Definitely a nice car to buy and super-desirable to leave it the way it looks, rather than over-restore it.
Looks to be a 1955 LWB 107" pick up going by horn/dip switch, early wiper motors, bolt for wheel arch on front guard being very close to arch.![]()
there are many nice old cars in this yard. if anyone is keen on the landrover please let me know. it would be a shame to have something like this rot away like so many others, not to mention all the other landrovers he has.
