    Commission

Just like that Italian chap that accepted a commission to paint some church ceiling, I have accepted a commission to restore this 1954 86” I won’t be using any Dulux ceiling white but it be a ground up restore.
Overall it looks pretty good little body damage and bit of rust in the chassis, mechanicals unknown at this stage. Almost all there including genuine 1954 truck cab.
Can’t find the serial number at the moment due to crud and a through the firewall welsh plug job in the past removing the plate from the firewall, engine No 47110204.

As in the past I intend to past photos and comments as it progresses on the Trans Tasman series site (Trans Tasman Land Rover Series 1 Register Forum • View topic - Commission) but will post 1 or 2 here to.

Moving along tub, seat base and wings off. Fare bit of crud cleaned off and firewall ready to send to man with lots of air and sand to clean up steel bits.

    Notice the service hole.

    Engine

Engine is cleaned up pulled down and is in very good shape. Light hone and cylinders are perfect and still very close fit to standard pistons. Would probably get away with original rings but will replace. Main bearings and big ends have deteriorated with time not wear the crank is in near perfect condition.
Question anyone have the part numbers for rings and main bearings for 2L siamese.
    Right Side

    Honed bores

    Left side

One interesting point is that this is the roughest S1 cast I have ever seen there is cast slag and sand in lots of spots the marks where the moulds where pushed together is very prevalent. There are a number of very small air holes in the cast. All the machined parts are perfect but the rest is pretty rough.
