			Sources for Series one cars?

Planning to drive across australia via series one. Any tips on where I can start looking for a suitable car? Marketplace seems pretty barren here. Mods say no wanted ads in forums. So just point me in the right direction and I will begin the hunt.

Wanted and For Sale ads, clog up the forums and they remain there forever even though the car sold years ago. It then becomes extra work for moderators to monitor and delete expired ads.

There is a classified ad section on this site Main Index - AULRO Classifieds called "Markets" you can place an ad in there. You can then post a thread with a link to your ad in the Marketplace alerts. Marketplace Alerts - Australian Land Rover Owners and also a single post in the Marketplace alerts stick in this forum http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-i-l...anted-ads.html

Other places to look is ebay, go to location "Australia" and search there.

Go to Carsales Used cars for sale, buy a used car, sell your second hand car - carsales.com.au

Or you could PM RussellRovers who seems to find good series 1 vehicles around Queensland.

 Hope this helps.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting. You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

					G'day Mate,

I keep meaning to get some steering wheel covers from you, but haven't got around to it.

Series 1's for sale are thin on the ground in the condition you would require for such a trip. Bring a shed load of spares too.

My advice for the trip being a local is.

Get rid of the original springs and fit new replacements.
Get a long wheelbase ute. You will need it to fit lots of Jerry Cans. There are places in this country the fuel you have in the tank will not get you halfway to the next town.
 Bring lots of spares.

You mentioned you wanted to drive accross the country. My way of thinking is, nice idea, but in this type of vehicle, without a lengthy preperation time, you will need alot of logistical support.

Good luck. Depends when it is, you could have some company.

 CC

			a little drive

					Hi leafsprung
 I have a collection of series 1's
I hope you have a younger back and bun than mine
I have driven mine 1000's of kms from one state to another and back over many years, they could do it anytime, just my body would suffer more.
In saying that you will need to spend a lot of time and money preparing your car.
I am talking about pulling it down and putting back together again so you will know your car, like your body as you will be the one to keep it running
and as stated obtain a heap of necessary spares to keep 60 year old car running.
Go for it, make sure your support is sound and your car float is likewise if needed, and your medical policy includes remedial massage.
In passing you could save yourself a lot of heart ache, make me a offer I can not refuse
 cheers
 Ian

Thank you for all of the replies. I have done many long drives in series ones. at least a dozen over 1000 miles and 3-4 over 2000 miles. The vehicle and the mileage do not intimidate me. I have 3 series ones now and have had many in the past so I am familiar with the issues they have, Im confident with the right car I can prepare it in a few days and be ready for a trip like this. Due to the extended logistics of shipping a car to Australia Id prefer to find a car there and sell it once I have done my trip. Thank you all for your help and support I look forward to meeting some of you if I can get everything in order.
