Which chassis sections are worth saving ?

Where's Moses when you need him? I would love to permanently store that chassis at my place, but that body of water called Bass Straight is still there.

Until the respective Governments start to give the more remote inhabitants of our great country a better deal, easing the financial burden of distance. So the carriage of goods, like this chassis, remains impractical where any distance is involved.

What a dilemma you have there Colin, my advice is find something that you need and offer the chassis as a barter item.

Has anyone got room on a flat bed truck that's coming over to Tassie?

I've been trying to shift this for some time.
Surface rust only and a bit of straightening needed to the rear crossmember and front dumb irons plus a spring bracket needs welding back on (someone cut it off to release a spring).

I feel guilty but what do you do. I can cut it into sections and strap to a pallet but moving the whole chassis is a problem.

I have a galvanised Series 3 chassis that's been repaired and nobody seems to want it either, mind you I'm asking a bit more for that one.

I could probably keep it a bit longer but SWMBO isn't happy about the latest arrival http://www.aulro.com/afvb/other-powe...eries-3-a.html

If I can get it off the driveway and hide it down the back amongst the trees it could stay a bit longer but am I just delaying the inevitable ?

Get someone big and strong to help and stash it behind the shed somewhere - cutting that up would be tragedy! Surely someone must be going to Tassie with a trailer behind them.

The TT Line doesn't charge by height, so if somebody has a decent set of roof racks, you could put it up there and get it across the ferry for the price of a normal car. A trailer is quite expensive as it doesn't get a government rebate which the car would get.

If somebody can get the chassis to Devonport, I know a guy who lives there who is more than happy to store it for a few weeks until I can get up there to drag it back to Hobart for Arthur. I expect to be heading to that region with a trailer in a few weeks, I might as well have a load for the return trip!

Hopefully somebody is headed across to Tassie soon!

I have a late ser2a chassis ex military that I have started to cut up as the dum irons and rear end did not exist due to rust the rest is good If any one wants it or parts there off lI have started to cut the gearbox member out so it can be reused.
(I also have a selection of second hand long and short chassis not military as well as a new old stock Ser 3 military galvinised chassis never been used. These are not free)

If you dont manage to shift the chassis, klonk could do with the cross member under the front of the tub behind the g/box. He is an 80'' but can PM you sizes to check if the time comes.

Just got home again, with a 2A Diesel motor in tow on the box trailer, it is missing the injector pump as it was beyond repair when it was sent to get checked!!!! So now I"m on the hunt for another 2A injector pump.
Picked that lot up at Bridgenorth, isn't it great when the GPS has maps that do show the way.

Colin, I will give you a ring at some sane hour of the day about relocating that chassis.

You must be on a break from Uni at the moment, time to catch up. Most Wednesday mornings we have a old crocks meeting here at my place. Directions are easy, turn left just as you come into Brighton and then it's 4 klm's RHS, the jug will be on.

A cross member for klonk could be got out of the 86" that needs the replacement chassis and another chap down here has chopped a very rusty 80" basket case, I'll tex him for you to see if he kept that cross member and if it is salvageable.

On the contrary, I'm in swot vac, ignoring all the study I know I should be doing! I have about a month off starting on the 19th. I'll try to come up after then. That's why it's a few weeks before I could collect the chassis from Devonport, but thankfully I've got no problems with storage up there. It's good to have mates who understand.

Let me know if you guys work something out and do need that storage in Devonport, I'll tee it up for you.

That idea sounds good to me. Hope the 2a motor is worth the trip, I lived in Westbury for 16 years untill a certain Tassie company wrecked the timber industry then we moved to Albany for another timber company then the tassie co turned up here and ruined it here as well. Loved Tassie. Will PM you some info you will like
