The height of the hardtop of my '55 86" is the same as your truck cab at 1.98m. Same dimensions all around.

    b@$%^

Hmmmm these little series 1's are not that little

    5.85 ft wide
    11.68 ft long
    6.5 ft high

    my new one is

    5.85 ft wide
    13.9 ft long
    6.5 ft high

hmmmmm they havn't changed that much have they. when your on a good thing stick to it.

This may be a mm or 2 out as the wife was holding the smart end of the tape and it's cold ,windy and raining here in Perth tonight. I would like to say she contributed uncomplaining but that would be a big porky pie.

    what does this mean

It means towing a trailer both ways across the Nullabour not my favorite trip but this will test the 90's diffs and head gasket and all the other bits everyone seems to worry about.

Is it silly to think you could buy a car trailer there and bring it back and sell it for same or close to same back here?

Going off the pics of your new "Bluey", it is an 88". It has the horn button on the column, pork pie style tail lights, longer front guards with the bolt further away from the wheel arch...

Did you base your measurements off an 86"? 1956 was the change over year from 86" to 88" & 107" to 109".

you would get it onto a 10x6 tandem.

or 12x6 would be more comfortable with less overhang.

Other wise your onto the car trailers which you can get a new one for approx $2.5k

A word of caution here. Mike texted me asking if it would fit in a 10 x 6 furniture trailer. There can be no overhang with a furniture trailer as it has full height sides - and hence the request for the vehicle height as well. Of course many furniture trailers are also single axle and/or don't have the weight capacity of carrying a car - even a smallish Landy.

I see the odd request for borrowing a car trailer amongst us - I've posted them up myself before and had to hire a car trailer three times now for Landy purchases. Maybe we need an "AULROWA car trailer"? Go on Mike - buy one
