    Wayne that would be great
Could you also ask him about 16661749 this is reputed to be an RACQ landy.
will still be a good 6 months till I can get a real good look at it, have attached a pic though. Its buried among quite a few 1960's cars. Also its chassis and body are the same colour (RACQ light cream/yellow)

From what I understand, no they didn't but if 16661749 IS RACQ and my 16661747 also likely and so we would be looking for 16661748 as the third in a batch.

Looking at the numbers 39 through 43 it may be that a batch of 5 maybe 6 were sold to RACQ in fleet colours in the first half of 1951.

We do know that RACQ purchased 6 1949/1950 models with 3 delivered in December 1949 the subsequent early 1950. This is probably the 6 in this image.

    A couple more images:

There are a number of images in the RACQ book "A Road Well Travelled" celebrating 100 years.

I find it interesting that the RACQ was against the fitting of front number plates because it was too much government interference on motorists. This is why you dont see number plates on the front of the 80" Landies only their fleet number and RACQ.

This was the same time that Brisbane drivers were not able to purchase petrol on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. They were also against mandatory front mudguards for similar reasons. That is the sort of freedom our boys fought for.

Thanks for the info, I will have to get the book.
I have been told of another 1951 RACQ veh under restoration, within ten chassis numbers so it seems a few vehicles were purchased by them around those chassis numbers. Also another 1952 model in SE QLD
So there are a few around
Love the SII pic with only its tail lights so must be pre 60ish.

Hi Wardy, given that it seems that A&T were building the vehicles in RACQ fleet colours, it would be likely they would try to do them in batches rather than as individual vehicles.

It may also account for the notation in the Solihull dispatch books of colour none. LR053 (Alex) or AC260 (Mike) will have better info as they have had their Mk1 eyballs on the pages.

That would be very true seeing as the chassis was painted body colour also, so a big undertaking repainting in fleet colours.
Will be a great day when we can get as many RACQ land rovers together in the one spot
