    The shape of these bodies has me curious, does anyone know of a decent set of photo's showing the original pork pie lights as fitted to 1955 - 1958 series one Land Rovers?

    I seem to remember that the metal bodies was different to these shown here.

    They are sold by;
    ST38 rear lamp conversion (CA1249) - Rear - Lamps Head Spot Side Rear - Classic Car Parts | Complete Automobilist

    I prefer to deal with a business that doesn't keep you waiting a couple of months until they deliver.

    These lights are just that. They are similar to generic lights used in the 40/ 50's but not even close to the lights fitted to the Landy. The genuine type taper the other way, larger end on body, tapering to glass.

    They are a rip off as they are not close to the original and are sold at an inflated price due to the Very high price asked for the original.

    You can purchase D lights for the same price as these are sold. Although they would not be true to what was fitted 55-58, blinkers were not fitted at this time (except optional indicator arms off the windscreen surround) It would be usual for any modification to include period stop/ tail/ blinkers which could include the type shown or D light copies which can be obtaind for the same price and at least resemble S1 tailights albeit for an earlier S1.

    Someone should get some authentic replicas produced and sold for a reasonable price.

    The problem is that the name 'Pork Pie' has been given to two entirely different shaped body styles, have a look at my previous posting, They were fitted to other makes of cars and I accept those non-Land rover lights do look like the shape of a pie cooked in a bowl !!!

    You can purchase D lights for the same price as these are sold. Although they would not be true to what was fitted 55-58,
    To fit 'D' lights the holes need to be redrilled and that is the problem as it spoils a restoration.
    I would rather use the direct fit plastic after market L/R Pork Pies, than hack more holes into a body that has had hours of restoration spent on it.

    blinkers were not fitted at this time (except optional indicator arms off the windscreen surround) It would be usual for any modification to include period stop/ tail/ blinkers which could include the type shown or D light copies which can be obtaind for the same price and at least resemble S1 tailights albeit for an earlier S1.
    If the indicator after market lens and reflector, could be fitted into the L/R style light body that would be a better solution, would it not?

    OK, who's going to approach a light manufacturer to get it done?

    I think since this renovation will take awhile I can play the waiting game, also the stop lights fitted were on the right a 2A Wipac light and on the left a dodgy Hella generic stop light.
    Thanks all for the passionate debate about this issue
    Also since Im buying a house it will make the amount of money I have to use a little scarcer but where there is a will there is a way
