Does anyone know if the indicator switch has to be mounted on a stalk at the steering column? I was thinking of using a on-off-on toggle switch on the dash with some warning lights as this would be much simpler to wire up. Also are the indicators required to self cancel? The universal steering column turn switches I have seen online do not appear to have a cancelling function?
Cheers,
I'm sure that after a certain year the indicators will have to be self cancelling but that won't apply to your 86".
My Series I has an 'aftermarket' stalk added and it's not self cancelling. I have a Series II that has a toggle switch fitted when indicators were added, as long as there is a warning lamp this should also be OK.
There were a lot of aftermarket stalks available if your not sure about the one you've found online visit the next swapmeet in your area and you should be able to find something.
