Thread: New Tyres

They look like a radial tyre that you have fitted? From factory the 107 SW would have had 700 X 16 crossply tyres, 750 X 16 was an option. Iam sure the modern tread pattern would help with better handling and braking more so.
I have an old 86" and will be going a more period looking type of tyre as it would be my daily driver.

205's have wider tread than 750's and they sit squarer on the rim (straighter side walls), but yes smaller dia, about the same as 6.50's. They look like they would be good sand tyres. Tidy wagon .

As Klonk said, 205's correspond to 650/16. I have a set this size on my S1 88" and they are to be replaced with 650/16 Goodyear Xtra Grip Hi Milers which are a winter tread pattern.

B.S.F. - the aspect ratio will be 82% according to convention. That is, if the ratio is not specified, it is 82. - Last century, nearly all tyres were 82%, therefore there was no need to trumpet it, like the '70' owners wanted to....

The 'R' is for 'Radial' (ply) and LT is self-explanatory.

I have come across 205/80 R16 as well as the ubiquitous 205/70 R16. My old Pajero ran 235/80 R16.- They were big tyres with long legs...

You're right 205/82x16 and 6.50x16 both have a diameter of 29". .W.

I remember when getting tyres for my Series 1 that changing to a 235/80 or 205/80 changed lowered the gearing by 7 or 9% over the original fitment tyres.
I ended up with 700x16 RTM's which were being brought into the country at the time.

Any one tried 215 x 85 16?

What heavy tread has been seen?

I have ben told that they are an option and close to 700 x 16 which I think are optimal. I have 750 x 16 and they are too higher geared.
