i have the correct centre swivel number plate holder this fits to the centre of tail gate jim
A problem a lot of us experience in Australia is the fact that the license plates are too long for mounting under the number plate light without protruding by 50 mm or more. This problem is worse on the 107/109" because the rear panel is narrower by 20mm or so than the SWB where the plate can be made to fit.
Above shows original placement of number plate, well out of range of the number plate lights. I know I should have Pork Pies but was kindly given these Butler rear lights which I like.
The fix was to mount the number plate on a hinged plate - nice brass hinge & aluminium plate, with a small swing down latch to lock in place.
Number plate hinged out for tailgate opening.
Tailgate down. Now I just have to modify the drawers which were made for an 80", as they are too tall for the 107 to put the fridge slide above.

as per examples
And that's why some of the Pork pie lamps on the right hand side of S1 didn't have number plate lights, there was no number plate to illuminate. .W.
Problem is it would extend beyond the width of the vehicle by about two inches - on the Defender, it is within the width of the flares and the extension is less, due to the extra body width that came in with the Series 2.
I never had any problems with wiring when I had the number plate wiring when I had tailgate mounted number plates.
