    Stub axles

One of my front stub axles won't just slide off the half shaft. When I gave it a gentle pull, the whole half shaft assembly slid out with the stub axle still over the outer section.

The other one just came off as expected.

Same thing happened to my 'donor' series 2 front end. One came off easy, one didn't.

Seems that the outer splined part is too large to fit back through the inner end of the stub.

Is it a matter of more forceful encouragement or is there a trick?

    Russ,

Just had a look at the manual, it should come off.
Possibly the bush in the inside of the stub axle is holding it on.
I think I would "help" it to co-operate with a soft hammer.

You may find that the end of the driveshaft is burred where it has been moving in the drive member, that would stop it sliding back through the stub axle.
You may have to file the ends of the splines back to size.
