Correct air filter and hose fitted a bit of paint here and there and a polish and it's looking very tidy. Just worked out my long range tanks that will sit I'm the space forward of the rear wheels should hold 50 litres per side. I have filler caps , hose and breathers left over from the tanks I put in the Defender. Thinking of running a water tank (poly tube) in the pto shaft hole should hold around 30 litres .

Many thanks to Graeme D for rebuilding my gearbox I learnt a lot watching . I cleaned the bits and painted its all finished today but not yet installed . My long range tanks are now being cut and folded at the sheet metal shop should get around 55 to 64 litres in the area forward of the rear wheels each side .![]()
Its coming along great. Do you have to get the new tanks engineered?
Getting them cut and folded . We will do the welding . I have all the fittings left over from my Defender dual tank install.
Number plates finally arrived. I cant believe I drove across Australia and around Perth for weeks without getting pulled over for no number plates. Gearbox swap happens tomorrow , Spare tyre went on the bonnet today , Heater demister fitted as well not a smiths a cheapo ceramic but it works.

Looking good, Mike
What tyre is that? Looks like Super Gripper tread.

New gearbox is in and what a difference so quite. I could even put a radio in it now and listen to it while driving. I put the floor back in to drive home but I have decided to pull it out again tomorrow and add some soundproofing under the floor panels and give the seat box and floor a coat of paint. I wont be touching the exterior but having the inside looking a bit better wont detract from the original patina. The gear change is nice and firm Graeme did a fantastic job on the box . Only trouble I can now hear a tick tick sounds like the exhaust manifold gasket may have developed a leak.

Floor and seat base out again today cleaned sanded back with Wet & dry and painted with etch primer. Re sand tomorrow and spray with nice grey paint . Maybe I just wanted to take a peek at my new gearbox again LOL
