    Suspected Dodgy Ebay Listing

I spotted this on ebay Land Rover Series 1 | eBay

But I thought I had seen it recently on the UK Club Forum as a Portugal Scam. see here Login

It was listed here Sold or Removed: Land Rover Series 1 (Car: advert number 197948) | Classic Cars For Sale

The Aussie listing does show Qld plates but is the format correct?? Also has a Qld mod plate but ????

Are the vehicles the same?? Looks it to me and pics seem to be taken at the same location.

    Wadda you think.

Damn that's a good looking beast. Not sure SWMBO would like the idea of that over a current series vehicle, but I sure would!

Same set of pics for sure, but given the plates and compliance plate look OK (to a NSW'er anyway) maybe the car was previously advertised and the photos skimmed for the overseas scam. Interestingly the last link in this post has one pic the others don't.

The Ebay pics are higher resolution, so they would be more likely to be closer to the original source (if not the originals)

    Ebay pic: (note visible plate)

UK site pic (note partially blanked plate)

As an aside, those same set of pics currently are also here:

    Obscured plate: http://translate.google.com/translat...ndrovertop.htm

The buildings certainly look Aussie and not European. Plus rego sticker looks like a qld one. The uk site pic looks like it was copied as quality is worse so I suspect the oz ad is genuine and pic was flogged for overseas add.

    Cheers

Interestingly, that person has another car for sale, with pics taken in the same location:

    QLD engineers mod plate

It has the correct mod plate for QLD thats the blue one and the rego. Its a Qld building by the looks . It came from the UK originaly back in 2006 he says. Its probably genuine but to much for me anyway I like them to look like they have a bit of history not off the showroom floor i have a 2012 model for that.

It gives the location as one of the nicer suburbs on the Redcliffe Peninsula, and looking at those houses in the pictures, it looks right.

To me, it all looks ok, including the second car being sold.

I HAVE JUST BEEN INFORMED THAT MY LISTING HAS BEEN COPIED AND IS THE SUBJECT OF A SCAM IN PORTUGAL. THIS VEHICLE IS IN AUSTRALIA AND THIS IS A GENUINE LISTING. COME AND VIEW MY LANDIE, IT'S ON THE REDCLIFFE PENINSULAR NOT THE BLOODY ALGARVE.

I WILL BE REPORTING THIS SCAM TO EBAY SO THAT THEY CAN DEAL WITH THE SCAMMERS.

Don't know about you lot, but if I was shelling out that for a car - or anything for that matter - I would want to go and see it and drive it first anyway (which the owner seems happy to do)

Pity it probably dripped all over that nice driveway though!
