Soooooooo, Katie Katie Katie.
Gearbox has been out and all the plates seem fine although the clutch was soaked in oil. Could be that the lay shaft holes were flogged out and one of the pins were broken. Thankfully a couple of weeks back i picked up another chassis which has been resto'd, thankfully it looks like the gearbox had been too and the lay shaft in it was schmicko. Subsequently it has been pillaged and the parts fitted to Katie.
While she has been layed up at the mechanics a crack was found in the exhaust manifold, new and terminal. So I scrounged another out of the salvaged 109 and that's been cleaned up and fitted.
And then, just to display her indignation at the whole process the water pump started to hemorrhage green fluid all over the place and a new one was ordered up. When its gone to be fitted it seems the previous times it crapped itself the holes in the block have been tapped out to take bigger bolts and the holes in the pump casing drilled out even bigger to accept said bolts. Naturally enough the new repro pump doesn't have enough meat in the casing to drill out the holes enough to match the bolt sizes. So now the last hope seems to be helicoils.

Flogged out lay shaft and pins, oils soaked clutch plate, broken exhaust manifold, replace the rest of the exhaust system, problematic water pump replacement, replaced the many different sized or missing bolts in the floor and roof with some nice new ones.
