chassis number and a pic or 2 would be a good start
Dear All,
I've found a complete and intact Series 1 SWB soft top which I think I might like to buy. But, I'd like to work out what year model it is. So how do I do this?
Regards,
joe
chassis number and a pic or 2 would be a good start
80" vehicle 1948 -1953 had a lozenge shape dash panel and the rear edge of the doors is angled.
86" / 88" vehicle 1954 - 1958 had the more common rectangular dash panel that continued through till the end of 2a production. Also rear edge of door is straight.
Easiest way to identify to Series one newcomers.

Has it in one, depending upon the model the numbers are in different places, so a piccy is good up front.after that it gets difficult with multiple wheelbases and sequences
- 48 models have a prefix "L"or "R" for RHD, followed by 6 numbers starting "86"
- 49 models have a prefix "L"or "R" for RHD, followed by 7 numbers starting "866"
- 50 models have a prefix "L"or "R" for RHD, followed by 8 numbers starting "06" (the L or R is discontinued before the end of 1950)
- 51 models have 8 numbers starting "16"
- 52 models have 8 numbers starting "26"
- 53 models have 8 numbers starting "36"
- 54 models have 8 numbers starting "46"
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
