    Katie needs a gasket

    Hello guys,
It seems Katie has done a gasket, well that's how l see it any way. She is leaking ( yes she leaks any way) coolant from either the front of the motor some where about the water pump. Where would be the best place to get a gasket kit and probably an oil filter ?

Which gasket is leaking? Is the pump leaking? Which oil filter do you have fitted?

Its a bit hard to work it out coolant has leaked out of and sprayed back onto the dizzy, either the front of the motor, the top of the waterpump ( which I think got a new gasket when it was replaced) or where the top hose body is........or maybe the temp sender.
    Filter is old school

To answer your question about the oil filter quickly without looking back through hours of the forum for clues, it would be handy to know which engine is fitted into 'Katie'.

If Series 1, is it the Siamese or Spread bore?

As for the coolant leak, first have a look between the thermostat housing and the top of the water pump, at the o-ring.

I know of at least three duffernt oil filters fitted to SI motors. A photo would help. As for gaskets, these are easily hand cut from gasket paper.

I can see now, it's a spread bore engine built from 1955 to 1958

It has the later full flow oil filter fitted to the engines right hand side, under the air intake manifold.

You could cut your own gaskets, but try Four Wheel Drive Spares in Blackburn, Vic as they should have the gaskets and the oil filter available.

    Don't forget that o-ring though.

Gasket as said. And the o-ring between the thermostat housing and waterpump has failed. Replace both, and you'll be good to go. Make sure the copper bit that goes in the o-ring is in good condition.
