Gday all, haven't got much archeived lately as the renos on the house come first,so the chassis + bulk head are ready for sand blasting and that brings me to my first question as to what to paint the chassis in?having read all the posts on here that I could find on the subject I think I'm now more confused than I was before, would like to galv it but don't want to take the risk of it warping, pro 15 sounds to hit and miss, kill rust 3 step I take you can't get in dbg,my cousins a spray painter by trade and is going to give me a hand, but he wants to paint it in 2pac,I'm under the impression that 2 PAC isn't the best thing to paint a chassis with as it very hard and chips easy, any ideas?

As long as the chassis is in sound condition with no thin steel, it won't warp.

I have had mine done and there was no distortion at all, but it does weigh a lot more than it used to.

Any spray enamel will be fine on the chassis,

    Cheers Charlie

Nice one, you've made good progress as well.

Nothing wrong with galvanizing the chassis but it's 61 years old and has lasted well with out any care. Some penetrol sprayed inside every part of the chassis and a good coat of paint on the outside should see it good for another 61years.

Put penetrol in the top coat of paint as well.

Well things have slow down to a crawl on the 80, as Ive been spending all my time and money on the house and the yard getting it ready for a shed,I have had new front and rear springs made for it,not cheap but the local bloke done a really good job,as my next job is to rebuild the diffs so I can get a rolling chassis just wondering what everyone does for bolts? Ie does anyone is oz do bolt kits?got a price from lr fastners but seemed really really steep to me

You need to buy the book Original Landrover Series1 By James Taylor usually available on Ebay. Good Christmas Present. That will help with colours & lots of coloured photo's & helpful info .
I may be able to help with a fan & may be a s/h master cylinder just need to go through my L/R parts I will let you know.. Problem is I am in Brisbane.

I got a quote from them as well and it was about 3 times more than the car will be worth!

Keep all of the fasteners, soak them in molasses solution at the appropriate time and paint them if required. I don't know of anyone who does a kit, but there are firms in Oz who sell BSF fasteners, such as Classic Fasteners,

    Cheers Charlie
