			53 80" rebuild

Hi all. I bought this 80 about 6 months ago, its a bit rough but mostly complete I suspect the bits that are missing are all the hard to get bits, starter motor, master cylinder, engine fan, prop shafts, alter meter,d lights, air box, dynamo.im new to land rovers so I'm probably going to annoy the hell out of everybody. I've just started to strip it down and the good news is that the chassis and bulk head have almost no rust at all, the chassis is bent where the driver side bulkhead outrigger attaches but it's not to bad and should be an easy fix. The engine is seized solid there's been diesel in the bores since I got it but it won't budge. My first question is can I find out where it was imported and put together from the numbers? I've got photo bucket but I can't work out how to put photos on here

					Hi,

Congratulations on your find. Rover factory records exist and are kept at the British Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon. You can send away for a copy of the information pertaining to your vehicle for a small cost. records for vehicles sold by Grenville Motors (NSW distributor) also exist so if you are lucky your vehicle came through there rather than SA or somewhere more far flung. What is the chassis number?

In photo bucket, go to the top right corner of the photo, there is a tools icon. Hit get links, the very bottom one is image codes for forums. Hit it and it will say copied, then paste on the forum in your post.

Hi Judd5, great looking little Landy, have you considered not painting it?

You are in luck it was originally sold by Grenville Motors, details below:

 Ch: 36661556

 Eng: 36108615

 Key: 515

 STD tyres

Sold to Amos Smith and Sons on 28-07-1953

It was a CKD (completely knocked down) vehicle so came over in a kit and was assembled here.

I think Amos Smith and Sons may have been the dealer for Narrabri? But I could be wrong - hopefully someone else can confirm.

Thanks for all the replies,I didn't think it would be that easy thanks fossicker,I would like to keep the paint but the panels need a fair bit of work heating and beating and plugging holes but that's still along way off. How can I get in touch with you Shaun?
