Sorry! I don't buy that story, let alone the Land Rover.
.
Was it Colonel Sanders?
Cos there may be a few secret herbs and spices in this story......,
However if the rare 1950 model is true to its original build (and the instruction plate on the dash), it should still have a freewheel unit front output.
As we all remember these models were constant 4WD (4H and 4L) but allowed the front output to run faster than the drive rate to prevent wind up. The ring pull or yellow button in these only locked up the freewheel unit, so you also had 4WD in reverse.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
It doesn't seam to have the fabricated firewall the early 48's had . The belling housing looks rounded not square . Also doesn't have a ring pull transfer case. The grill & 7" head lights make it a very late 19 50 / 51. Also the seat backs are the wrong shape for a need 48 /49 or 50. the chassis no to see what it is . This guy doesn't know s
anything about S1's.
, Thinks he is sitting on a gold mine, trouble some one who knows less than him will buy it . What does this make my 1945 Landrover worth , Ha Ha Ha!
Not as much as my pre-War Land Rover!
My 1935 Land Rover was used by Austin of England as the design concept which resulted in their Bantam prototype for the 1/4 ton general service vehicle by the US War Dept. Which I guess makes it the grandfather of the ubiquitous WWII jeep.![]()

Lost count of the number of people that have rang me wanting to know what there old L/R was worth & there all per 1947 , most turn out to be S2 or S3's' .![]()
