My 1951 ex-RACQ, ex-NSW Bush Fire Brigade 80" has been neglected for the last 7 years since before the Land Rover 60th. last year we sold the farm I had to bring it up to Sydney and now it is being painted. So thought it time to create a retrospective project thread on it.
When it first arrived from Bemboka in 2004.
Where it got to in 2007

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

As Henry Ford said of the model T - you can have any colour you want on your 1951 80" as long as it's deep bronze green!
Although there were a few exceptions for fleet orders, the British Army had sand colour for the Middle East as did the RACQ, but most were dbg.

My ex-RACQ, Annand & Thompson 1951 had the plate butwill check tonight what it specified.
There is a document on the Australian 1950 CKD vehicles which specifies A&T as one so one must assume they were the master distributor from 1949 at least. Will check that doc when I get home too and let you know the dates of the first batch deliveries.
Have you noticed that on A&T built vehicles from 1952 the chassis number is frequently on the LHS chassis rail and not on the engine mount as in other 80" or the spring hanger on 86"/107"?
Addit: Oops I don't need to check the plate tonight, it's in my Photobucket.

This week I've moved my 1951 80" resto project from the farm to my home in Sydney.
In the move I seem to have lost or misplaced the large nut on the steering box sector (cross) shaft. The one that holds the lever.
Does anyone know where I could find another one or what thread it is?
One off a dead steering box maybe the go.

No one has a dead 80" steering box?
All I want is a nut off the steering lever.

It would help if you'd tell us which kind you need? Bronze with fine thread or steel with coarse thread? .W.

I am about to have my ex-RACQ 1951 80" painted and in the years of it lying idle some small panels have gone astray. (probably in the relocation of everything off the farm last year.)
What I've lost.
The screw on panel around the yellow button.<original found>- The cover plate for the LHS steering column. <reproduction made>
- The cover plate for the LHS accelerator pedal. <reproduction made>
- The cover plate for the engine governor throttle quadrant (below the instrument panel).<reproduction made>
Its so annoying when you do these sorts of things!
PM me!
