Ignoring the recoil of members, of diverting from original condition, has anyone ever fitted a rocker cover crankcase breather/separator from a rover 2.6 engine to the S1 4 cylinder?
My little girl(1958 88) needs new rings some time as the crankcase breaths heavily through the breathers. The underside of the rocker cover gets quite dirty quickly. Just thought the above idea might help until I to an engine rebuild!
If you are referring to the black cap/breather I could not see any reason why you couldn't use it providing the the dimensions on the base are the same as S1, cheers Dennis
My military 109 with the 2.6 ran really clean under the rocker cover, so I will have a brief investigation to retrofitting it to the 4 cylinder. Hopefully in true Rover fashion, they have just extended the rocker cover when designing the six, and the breather will just fit straight in!
May be it will really help in reducing the carbon deposits throughout the whole engine, even after a re-build?
