    Back in business

    Hi

I have not been on this forum for a while Been teaching myself machining ..with many stuffups in the process.

I still have the three 1950 models , these are in various states of disrepair

Two are running and driveable .

I hope to be making a canvas truck top soon. I had a exmoor made one on loan and took measurments.

    Mike in Gippsland .

Nice to hear from you again Mike!

Goodness knows how many years since the Trans-Tasman forum!

Post some pics of your hood; I remember being most impressed by your first one,

    Cheers Charlie

    pics

    hi Charlie

Yes the old days .... on the trans tasman forum

How is your brother getting on with his series 1 ? Your 80" must be finished ? I am out of touch with things .

I have the pics of the exmoor truck canvas top somewhere . I will do some drawings and upload them . I managed to get hold of some 1" webbing and cotton canvas . Also found some brass gauze for the rear curtain windows .

A pic of making a backing plate for a chuck .It's a steel wheel from a scale garden railway wagon. I bored it out and made a cast iron sleeve and then internally threaded the sleeve . The lathe is a old flat belt Visby

My 80" needs the body done next and then it will be awfully close to finished; hence the reason why I am making some wings.

Life and a sports car have got in the way though, so it may a few more years yet, until the little fella is complete again,

    Cheers Charlie

    Wings

Charlie . Are you fabricating the whole wing ? Or just the inner section and the top flat section ? The outer panels are the most difficult to do . I guess if K Wadsworth can make them, then it's not impossible .

    Press

I've been told that Wadsworth uses a hydraulic press and a die to shape the outer section .
