Tiny bit excited

1-2 bonnet strip done, found some washers suitable to use for underside, double thickness jute webbing, looks ok but was cheap to manufacture and another item on the list to tick off as being done, so happy with that

3 missing panel next to the exhaust was found already painted so found suitable bolts and bolted into position, another job done.

4 found this d/side guard removed headlight but the top and inner panels are good to use, front panel will need removing. so got to work cleaning up the guard, lots of bog on the top of guard and that horrible sound deadner black stuff underneath

5 anyone help tell me what this bracket is for and whether original or junk added to the LR, not the bonnet lock mechanism but the larger oval looking bracket???

6-7 p/side guard with a lot of sanding and much more to do, but has revealed where some bog on the panels are. will need more sanding disc's as i have run low again

May be for a wind screen washer bottle ?

1-2 smaller piece of the mudguard a cover piece for something cleaned one side and painted mat black underside waiting for the top colour when i do more green painting, again another nightmare and hours of cleaning to get rid of that black sound deadner

3-4 now i had some left over blinker lights off the defender which needed a larger hole cut out of the existing guard to fit, so cut a bigger hole and test fitted the blinker. at this stage only thinking i need the blinker only and no park light but may be a problem for rego down the track, but don't really want to cut another hole for the park light by its side. i know its not original but don't think it looks to bad.

5-6 bottom lip of front guard had small alum L piece added for bracing took it off see rivet holes x4 bottom left. was thinking of fitting this other L piece which will run the full length and look somewhat more original then a smaller piece but now thinking of using fibreglass for the entire headlight cut out or another piece of flat alum to conceal and sandwich the headlight cut out? thoughts please...

1-3 cleaned up the mudguard supporting arm, cleaned and painted matt black ready for when installing guard

4-5 found two headlight surround covers for the def headlight not sure they will lock into position, one seems to have a screw hole in the base but no opposing hole to screw down tight once fitted, other looks like a clamp that comes together with a screw at the base but these are defender head lights so not sure a series cover will fit, painted will wait and see once dry

The Defender headlight should fit the chrome trim for the Series. There were several varieties of very similar trims, one, as you say, has a hole for a screw at the bottom (and should have a tab rivetted on to align it when installing - not essential, but useful. This is the one originally fitted.

The one with the screw and nut to clamp together should work as well.

All the ones I sent you a PM about are the clamp type. They should fit even if you have defender lights.

1-2 got around to fibreglassing the interior of the headlight cut out, was told by fibreglass people to place duct tape on cardboard in hole to stop fibreglass sticking to the one side of the cutout. the rear shots as seen has all fibreglass started by smaller inserts for the hole only. to stop the f/glass falling thru i placed the cardboard lined with duct tape on one side (hope this actually works) will wait till tomorrow to see when it sets. I used approx 4-5 smaller hole diameter size cut outs of fibreglass plus two larger sheets which covered the entire square box shape (larger then the hole) total of approx 6 sheets of fibreglass which should hold well. lets see fingers crossed. then might use spray putty and black matt paint to finish off.

I have these http://catalog.hella.com/catalog/pro...001%20259-061/ on my 80". No second hole needed.

1-2 guard with bog applied on, given the fibreglass had set i applied some bog, will need sanding next to get as smooth as possible, inner will prob jut spray putty and paint less obvious underneath

3 the indicator stalk just painted and will need to find missing bracket support to paint and offer up to the steering column

4 wiper arm painted matt black, another small job ticked of the never ending list

That type of indicator switch is only held on by a radiator hose clip[biggrin] so no bracket to find.

Attachment 143938 You just need to position the screw on the clip so you don't scrape your knee on it when getting into the vehicle.
