1950Landy - thought this pulley was all one piece, no room for puller between chassis and engine so hammered off. Will source replacement later.

1 took the fuel tank and side bottom of door frame off

2 took the rear tail gate off and loosened off some more bolts n nuts.

wanting to remove the seat base next and then the rear tub. also spraying wd40 on all spring bolts, engine mounts and gearbox mounts. Didn't foresee the need to remove engine and gearbox but now think i will have to, to do a proper job. Will attempt to start the engine before removing though to ensure it actually starts and kicks over.

LR has been a bit slow as i am doing some brick work at the moment.

You should be able to get a new harmonic balancer from Repco / Supercheap & the likes [smilebigeye], I think they were the same on all Holden red blue & black motors, then it is only a matter of putting a block of hard wood against the front face & using a big hammer knocking it on until the pulleys all line up.
If you ever need to get it off to replace the seal ( which you should do now while the pully is off because when the seal leaks it rots the rubber in the harmonic balancer) you will need to jack up the front of the motor & the Holden puller bolts on to the 3 bolt holes & the centre bolt of the puller pushes against the front of the crankshaft. You may need to jack the motor up if you can't hit in the centre of the balancer so it will go on square.
I think Jim was trying to tell you he had a Holden motor there to sell & probably hood bows as well.

Engine paint was on sale at Supercheap Auto so grabbed two cans

Couldn't wait so painted the rocker cover in red. Prob will need more paint as it took a couple of coats which will need a quick rub down and another layer.

As for the harmonic balancer that will have to wait for now till the engine comes out first after its fired up.

Sadly with winter not much happened to the old girl but ...

Firewall was out so i did some additional hand painting of the firewall in the dark green after a light sand. Would love to get my hands on some sunraysia wheels with tyres and keep the original 5 correct wheels for later. My paint is in the tin getting air and starting to go off with the paint setting inside the tin. May need more paint soon. Have not touched the engine at all nor the brakes.

Still need to source a battery to see if the old girl will crank over. My next 2 priorities are 1. sunraysia wheels with good tyres and 2. battery to test crank the engine over.

You could get a crank handle to test the engine.

If you buy your self a battery also buy a solar battery charger to keep the battery charged . I keep my 80" on a solar charger & it can sit for 6 months & the battery is always fully charged , alsi I got 15years out of my last battery in the 80". Even if you do get a crank handle you will still need a battery to give you power for the ignition. Or get a good set of jump leads & jump it off your drive car.

I don't think any Holdens had crank handles (I remember my father being very critical of them for this in the 1940s), so a crank dog will be a problem. The solar charger is a really good idea. I fitted a small one to the roof of the shed my tractor lives in, and as a result the battery is always good - and lasts years longer.

some sanding, scrubbing, cleaning then paint, its not perfect but neither is the Landie, and want to push this project along a bit. I have to remind myself sometimes this is not a concourse project and some times good enough is good to go otherwise you fall into the trap of never finishing it off. Happy with the firewall for now. Rear tub again not perfect but just needs some more paint to finish off.

Bought some paint cold gal for the chassis 1L as i already have silver painted on most of the chassis. Will finish off all the chassis with this paint.

Still looking for some new tyres and a battery which will fit my battery tray being 300mm long most batteries seem to be longer (no rush though). cheers
